I have been writing puzzles since I was a child, and taught myself over the years. I’ve been more serious about my puzzle writing since about 2002. While I mainly write crosswords (quick, cryptic, and themed), I also create word searches, mazes, cryptograms, double acrostics, and spot-the-difference puzzles. I am available to write custom puzzles, just contact me to discuss your needs.
The Secret Shape puzzle is my own invention. This is a word search puzzle, set in a drawn grid. Once all the words in the list have been found, the left-over letter squares are coloured in, to reveal a hidden picture! There is a Secret Shape puzzles over on my free puzzles page, if you’d like to give one a try.
In addition to my four Dummies books, I have written, illustrated and published eight puzzle books, including the two Canberra Puzzle Books, The Amazing Animals Puzzle Book (for the RSPCA), and The Fantastic Flying Doctors’ Puzzle Book (for the RFDS). My puzzles have appeared in many Australian and overseas newspapers and magazines.
I was the ‘captive cruciverbalist’ on ABC’s Statewide Afternoon (NSW) radio show, with Chris Coleman, during 2013. During this regular segment I would discuss some aspect of cryptic crosswords, and set clues for the audience. I am an occasional guest on ABC 666 Canberra, chatting about all things puzzley.
My Nixie cryptics are available through the Clue Detective Puzzle Agency. You simply sign up for an annual (or longer) subscription, and then get access to a huge range of puzzles, from sudokus and clueless crosswords to my Nixie cryptics. You can read more about the Clue Detective Puzzle Agency here!
I have been syndicated through Auspac Media since 2006, but as newspapers have continued to decline, this is no longer a regular source of work for me. My Gourmet crosswords, Quick Break, and Secret Shapes, and quite a few themed puzzles, are still available for publication in newspapers and magazines through Auspac.
