Pat Sephton - Harp Maker

Japanese Koto

This instrument is based on the Japanese instrument, but only slightly over a metre long (41"). It has the traditional 13 strings, but in nylon instead of silk. Because it is so light - under two kilos (4 lbs) - it has a strong fundamental with good volume and can be played as a solo instrument or ensemble.

The instrument is tuned diatonically to C Major, but a variety of keys are available as the bridges are moveable.

Full-size plans / construction manual, with strings, tuning pins, key, and grommets, with postage = $145.00 (overseas airmail $164.00) Japanese Koto
