We made it to page 43 of the September-October 2002 issue of The Open Road, in the "I love my car" section.
What it Took
- One 1982 Holden Gemini (automatic), beige
- Over 200 hours of work!
- 12 small tins of gloss enamel paint - White, Yellow, Orange, Pale Purple, Forest Green, Lime Green, Black
- 3 tins of One Shot signwriting lettering enamel - Blue Green, Pearlescent Dark Magenta, Pearlescent Process Blue
- 3 medium tins of Wattyl's KillRust paint - Delicious Red, Sungold, and Ultra Blue
- 2 cans of automotive spray paint - Burnt Orange and Purple Haze
- 4 small jars of glass paint - Purple, Magenta, White, and Green
- some fabric paint
- 1 can of red vinyl dye
- acrylic paint and acrylic medium (for the inside roof)
- 1 tube of silicone sealant
- heaps of brushes, in a range of sizes from small round brushes to 4 cm wide angle brushes
- heaps of fine sandpaper
- 2 rolls of masking tape
- 1 tin of Penetrol
- lots of old T-shirts and other rags
- 3 boxes of disposable plastic gloves
- 1 cup of aquarium gravel
- 1 metre of pale blue crushed velvet
- 2 metres of orange polar fleece
- 2 squares of plastic meadow grass with flowers
- 2 plastic aquarium plants
- 4 model birds
- 1 model sugar glider possum
- 2 model fairy penguins
- 2 model frogs
- 1 model lizard
- 3 fabric waterlillies
- 1 fabric turtle
- 10 tiny wooden ladybugs
- 2 bags of flattened glass 'marbles' (which have now been removed)
