How to submit your own review

As we have self-published this book, we really rely on your help in promoting the book! Reviews and "star ratings" are very welcome! If you would like to submit a review, you can either do this via the book's Lulu page, our Goodreads page, or by emailling Denise (to be put up on this website). Reviews posted on other sites will also be posted here.

It doesn't have to be lengthy, just a sentence or two is fine, and adding a rating (stars) is super fast, too. We really appreciate anything you feel able to do to help spread the word!

NB: the Lulu page looks different depending on the country reviews are submitted from. So the American reviews appear on one version of the page, and reviews from the rest of the world appear on another. We are collecting all reviews here on this page, so everyone can read them.

We have a Facebook Page for the book, as well, where you can ask questions of Denise and Sophie, and we will announce things like sales, and competitions. We'd love to chat with you over there!

An awesome book for anyone diagnosed with hip dysplasia. The book is full of great information and it's a valuable resource for patients as well as for caregivers. Reading the quotes from others with the same condition gives you some relief in knowing that you are not alone in this journey. The book is well written and very easy to understand as they explain in detail. Thanks to Denise and Sophie for writing this book!!!

What a HUGE relief for folks with this rare but life altering condition! I was feeling isolated and alone when I found the HipWomen Yahoo Group - it changed my life. Now to have a book that can get the message out and provide the same reassurance and peace to so many is a wonderful thing! The book is well written and interesting. The personal stories are the best, and practically every question you might have about going through PAO and hip dysplasia is there, crazy good!

This book is long overdue. As a person diagnosed with hip dysplasia a few years ago, I wish this book had been written when I was struggling to find information. Most of what I found was about babies or dogs. When I read the book I had been through a PAO surgery so I felt like I knew a lot already, but I still learned things by reading the book. I think the combination of experiences of the authors is what makes the book so great. They have both been through it so they write from personal experience. Dr. Sophie's medical experience provides the technical aspect of the book but it's written so that the info is digestible by someone without any medical education. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a full education about hip dysplasia.

I can't tell you how much I wish this book had been available to me years ago! It is simply a MUST read for anyone dealing with hip dysplasia. Sophie and Denise have brought together a vast amount of information and made it simple and easy to understand. I would think it especially valuable for anyone who has recently been diagnosed. Great job ladies!!!

The book I wish I had 3 years ago! Nothing goes unanswered in this book, and it is so well written and on a "low key, lay-man's terms" level. This material has information from some of the leading hip dysplasia experts in the world, and also from actual patients and their advice, thoughts, fears, and wishes from start to end. The book is staged well, from explanation of hip joint anatomy, to description of dysplasia, diagnosis all the way through to recovery from the many surgeries hip dysplasia can require. There's even a list of blogs from fellow hippies and websites to explore. This is the book to get if you're new to dysplasia and need some guidance and an anchor in what is surely a chaotic time for you, or even if you're a "pro" and would like reference material for friends or family who still don't "get it"! Thanks Denise and Dr. Sophie for what is truly a keepsake book :)

I have been through the hip dysplasia journey from childhood to my first THR age 40. This book has been wonderful and covers all the aspects I have searched and searched to find over the last few years when I've been coming to terms with my seemingly never ending treatment. I was so glad to see the section on childhood experiences as I have long felt the experiences from my hospital treatment have had a lasting effect on me as an adult and have shaped the person I am today. For years I felt like I was the only person ever to have this condition! Now I don't feel so alone. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

This is an incredible book, and will be very helpful to anyone with hip dysplasia or a caregiver. It includes all you need to know about dysplasia, from hip anatomy to helpful tips regarding surgery and recovery. It is full of quotes from real patients on a variety of subjects. The book is a wealth of information from two talented authors who not only know the matter in theory, but lived through surgeries themselves, with contribution from many patients around the world. If you are getting ready for a hip surgery, this is a must have, it will help you tons and save time on Internet research and information gathering.

A Guide for Adults with Hip Dysplasia is an incredibly complete resource about hip dysplasia and its treatment in adulthood. Speaking as an adult with hip dysplasia, there isn't a single question I can think of that this book doesn't address. Not only does this illustrated book clearly explain hip anatomy and surgical treatments, it goes beyond the medical context to offer practical advice and emotional support for patients before, during, and after surgery. The authors' friendly tone and the many quotes they've included from patients who have been through treatment really bring this book to life. Thank you Denise and Dr. Sophie for writing this wonderful book. It's a welcome addition to my bookshelf.

Whatever stage you are on in your hip dysplasia journey, this book is like having a close friend along who understands exactly what you're going through and can tell you what you need to know. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who has, or is close to someone with, hip dysplasia.

Wow - what I would have given to have had a book like this when I was diagnosed! I felt so alone, couldn't find any information about Hip Dysplasia in Adults - all I found was dysplasia in dogs!!! This book gives an honest account of the world of Hip Dysplasia because it has been written by two knowledgeable people who have got Hip Dysplasia and have had the operations.

It has also been written with the help of other Hip Dysplastic patients, who are all at different stages of the journey. You can't get better than that! Dr Sophie and Denise deserve a huge pat on the back for putting all the information that they gathered into such a great read. Any newly diagnosed Hip Dyplastics will find this invaluable. It is my new best friend!

I am almost one week post left total hip replacement due to hip dysplasia and this book is absolutely a MUST for all. Great reading. Relatives, friends and sufferers of hip dysplasia will find all the answers to questions. Brilliant anecdotes from people with real solutions. Well done to Sophie and Denise for such a comprehensive book. The condition is fully explained and all parts of the "journey" covered. Thanks.

This is a fantastic book! It's chock full of advice, information, tips, illustrations and first-had accounts of what it is like to have dysplasia, go through diagnosis, surgery and beyond. It is written in a really straightforward, readable style, yet has depth and authority, and deals with every possible aspect of the reality of having a dodgy hip (and some more aspects I hadn't even thought of!). It ranges from detailed explanations of anatomical issues, treatment and surgery to subjects such as coping strategies, finding a good surgeon, workplace negotiations and family/relationship issues.

It is realistic about what it is like to live with such a condition, but is upbeat about what you can do to help yourself, and the result is an uplifting book that is genuinely helpful and positive.

As well as a lot of detailed, super-clear information about hip dysplasia, there is also a ton of very helpful info and advice about dealing with a bad hip, and getting though day-to-day life pre and post surgery - I think this book would be very useful for anyone, dysplasic or not, with a bad hip. I also think that this book should be read by every orthopedic surgeon and every nurse/physio working with hip patients - it would be hugely useful to them to read these first-person accounts of what it's really like!

I would recommend this book to anyone with hip issues and applaud the authors for doing such a great job with such an extensive subject!
