Our two Australian QuickBreak Crossword volumes are crossword apps that enable you to play Denise’s QuickBreak crosswords on your iOS device (iPhone, iPod, or iPad). There are 50 crosswords in each volume. A detailed user guide is available.
QuickBreak is entirely customisable, so you can choose the grid colour, letter colour, and highlight colour, as well as choose from nine background papers, and four different fonts. Coffee-mug-stained newsprint? Dark watercolour paper? Japanese paper? It’s up to you.
There are also options for an auto zoom function, so you can zoom in on the grid, a timer, hints (type a ?), and visual cues for incorrect letters. The app has been designed to help people with visual impairment – so if you read best with white text on a black background, you can do it.
A few reviews
Finally!!!!! I have found a quick crossword that is all Australian content. It has been driving me crazy searching for one. Not only does it feel like a favourite you find in the daily paper, but you get a bundle of three crossword apps in one package.
The other bonus is the interface is very user friendly and also looks fantastic too.
Thanks, I was going mad.
I don’t think people from the US and the UK, who can get their own crosswords realise how lucky they are because they don’t make sense to us most of the time. — Paul T
My favourite crossword app
I’ve tried LOTS of crossword apps and this is by far my favourite. Easy to use with a nice interface and plenty if puzzles. Perfect for my 15 minute train ride! More please 🙂 — iBek
Crosswords done right!
This is crosswords done right for touchscreen. The interface looks great and behaves exactly like you expect it to. My minor complaint used to be that once you had a correct word, deleting an intersecting word would also delete the correct letter, but I notice now in settings you can set it to lock in correct letters. Perfect! The clues are well written and quite challenging, and had our whole family involved. — Kalsta
Love the accessibility of this app. Having low vision, traditional crosswords have been difficult – this app is great for the vision impaired as it has many options to change the grid. — Stiksgirl
